A Legacy of Learning: Kola Perumal Chetty Vaishnav
A school born out of strong advocacy of Shri Kola Perumal Chetty, a leading philanthropist, who insisted on building first-grade English schools with modern teaching techniques blended with Hindu culture in the 1970s.
Sri Vallabhacharya Vidya Sabha, the prominent managing body of D.G. Vaishnav College, with the support of Shri Kola Perumal Chetty, established Kola Perumal (K.P.) Vaishnav School in 1972 with the blessings of His Holiness 108 Goswami Shri Brijratnalalji Maharaj.
The school opened its doors with 265 students and today stands proud with a strength of 2751 students. The institution’s dynamic educational environment has evolved and enlightened several generations of learners. The school saw a natural expansion with the introduction of +2 with the CBSE school affiliation received in 1978. Sri Vallabhacharya Vidya Sabha and Kola Perumal organizations bring eminent industrialists, administrators and people committed to the cause of children’s Education to provide sustainable education, cultivating excellence and nurturing character, a unique blend of traditional values & knowledge with the advancement of new age techniques and technologies.
While KP Vaishnav has set apart the delivery of unconditional educational service from the prime center of Chennai’s heart, Sri Vallabhacharya Vidya Sabha provides the infrastructure and administrative expertise needed. Since its inception, the college has recorded phenomenal and continual growth.

- 1972: Established with KG to V Grade
- 1974: Received School Bus
- 1977: Introduced Library and Lab
- 1978: Became Sr. Sec. School with CBSE affiliation, offering schooling up to +2
- 1979: Infrastructure enhancement with 1st floor
- 1982: Introduced Open Air Theater
- 1985: Introduced Computer course
- 1994: Built a new building to house the bookstall, canteen, Sanchaika Bank, NCC Room, three classrooms and the Computer lab
- 2002: Tri-Decennial celebration
- 2003- 2004: Built Air-conditioned classroom, spacious computer Lab and Maths Lab
- 2005: ADC Auditorium was rebuilt and gained ISO 9001-2000 certification
- 2007: The school prayer hall was extended and air-conditioned
- 2008: Added Audio-Visual Block
- 2010: The CBSE Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation Scheme was implemented in the year 2010 -2011 for classes I to X to provide holistic Education
- 2011: The Centenary Year Celebrations of Late Sri Kola Perumal
- 2013: Introduced Easy – Educational Automation Software module
- 2014 – Parent Involvement Cell – was launched to expose the students to wider horizon self-knowledge in the different fields.
- 2015 – Bridge course was introduced for the students who had written std X board examination.
- 2016 – New Elective course Informatics Practices for class XI students was introduced.
- 2017 – New updated Junior Computer Science lab was inaugurated for Primary and Middle School Students equipped with Audio Visual facility.
- 2019- Leader in Me : A Whole school transformation process by Live Life Education was introduced in the academic year 2019-20.
2020 – YI (Young Indians. An initiative , is introduced for classes VI to VIII, to instill the power of leadership, enhance the youth entrepreneurial eco system and create youth-led changes to build nation.
Skillful Saturday: To enable the children of classes VI to VIII to develop various skills.
CACA – An empowered Child Change everything! With this idea in mind the school introduced CACA (Children Against Child Abuse) was introduced.2021 – Art-Education (AE) & Art-integrated Learning as per CBSE directions was introduced for class XII Students.
New subject was introduced for class XI , Applied Mathematics, Artificial Intelligence , Financial Markets Management and Information Technology.
- 2022 – The new subject Psychology was introduced as a main subject for Std. XI
- 2023 –STEM Lab – Stem is a curriculum based on the lead of education students in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics in an inter-disciplinary and approach.
Kalaripayattu, Silambam and Karate was introduced as Self-Defence Courses for Students of Std VI to VIII.
Money Smart School Program (MSSP) – an initiative of the NCFE to provide unbiased financial education for improving financial literacy which is an important life skillfor the holistic development of each student is introduced for classes VI to XII Balalaya inaugurated the fascinating ZOOTOPIA exhibition, themed “TAKE A WALK ON THE WILD SIDE,” on Tuesday, December 12th, 2023
